PlayGear Design Lab is an experiential learning studio where children explore design, identity, storytelling, engineering, materials science, and creative problem-solving through tactile, hands-on exploration.
As they begin to imagine how things could function differently, communicate more thoughtfully, and serve people more meaningfully, they also begin to understand their own ability to shape and improve the world around them.
The PlayGear philosophy is to utilize the Upstate’s rich textile roots and creative community to catalyze collaboration, storytelling, and hands-on identity exploration to help children develop design literacy, creative confidence, systems thinking, and interdisciplinary problem-solving skills.
